We made it! (again)
We drove across the country for the 2nd time with Brawley and our 2 cats, Penelope and Tina in tow!
It took us only 5 days to drive from San Diego to Massachusetts, and we even stopped in Colorado and spend the whole day at my mom's house.
The other days were strictly driving days. And we were in Brandon's Mustang, which is a stick, so he had to drive the whole way. Poor guy.
Anyways, we made it to Springfield, Ma and have been living in a hotel for 5 days now.
Our place isn't going to be ready until November 1st, so we are stuck for a few more weeks.
Living in a hotel is not great, especially if it's just a very basic hotel. This hotel we chose to stay in did not have a laundry room and we desperately needed to do laundry.
So we headed to a laundromat. Yes, I said, laundromat.
That word is somewhat foreign to me.
I have never been to one in my life.
Yeah, poor me, my life is so hard.
We get to the first laundromat and it is just too ghetto for my taste. I didn't even want to get out of the car. I didn't even want to drive on the streets. I am such a sissy white girl.
So we continued on and found another laundromat. Still a little ghetto, but it was well lit, so I thought it was ok. We go inside and go to the counter to buy laundry detergent from the employee. Brandon puts down a $10 bill, the guy says, we only take cards. So Brandon gives him his debit card, and the man says, we only take the laundromat cards.
OOOOOHHHHHH. That would have been helpful if we knew that from the beginning!
We felt like idiots at the laundromat.
The guy asks if we know what we're going. We say no.
So he takes us over the machine where we get a laundromat card. Then we have to load money onto the card.
Novel idea.
So we buy laundry detergent and go to the washing machines. We are those people that didn't know what we were doing, so we had to read the directions very carefully. I know we looked so out of place and I was definitely out of my element.
I took that a little too serious and stayed right in front of my clothes the whole time. And even though there were no seats in front of the dryer, I stood there and made sure no one stole my clothes for 45 minutes. And no one did.
The laundromat adventure sure was fun. I still have anxiety from it.
Only 3 1/2 more weeks until I can do my laundry at home.
Hooray!
