Brandon was working late, again, last Friday night.
His boss scheduled a conference call at 6:30pm on Friday.
Who does that? Someone that needs a girlfriend does that.
Oh I think I forgot to mention that Brandon got a new boss.
Ugh. When I first met the guy (we didn't know at the time he would be Brandon's boss) he was funny and sarcastic and loud. But I didn't pay too much attention to him, since he wasn't working with Brandon.
Well, now he is Brandon's boss and he is annoying! This is Brandon's second week on Recruiting Duty and not even on production (where is numbers really count) and they are making him do everything. Brandon has gotten 5 contracts in 2 weeks. Five contract is mission for the whole RSS!
Brandon made it all by himself. Mind you, there are 2 other Marines in the RSS.
I just feel he is getting treated like crap while working his ass off.
I will write about that later, maybe when I am feeling less angry about it.
Anyways, on Friday I met Brandon at his office and we went to Applebee's for dinner.
Again, I know, I can't help it. We should have known there was going to be a wait at 8:30pm on a Friday in Pittsfield. Apparently, Applebee's is the place to be.
Brandon was still in his uniform, since we came straight from his work.
While we were waiting in the lobby for our table, a lady come up to us from the bar and said,
"My husband and I would like to buy you guys a drink."
What? Did she really say she wanted to buy a us drink? That's awesome!
This would never happen in San Diego.
We followed her back to the bar and met her husband. He thanked Brandon for his service and then thanked me for being married to him. I don't like to be thanked for that, but it was nice of them.
We chatted with the couple for a few minutes before our table was ready.
It was a little awkward, we had never had that happen to us before. We felt like we wanted to do something for them in return, but couldn't think of anything.
The waitress came to tell us our table was ready, we thanked them for their generosity, they thanked Brandon again for his service and we went to sit down.
They left before we did and we never got a chance to talk to them again.
But we spent the whole night talking about them and how thoughtful that was to buy us drinks. We just were amazed that people actually did that kind of stuff. Especially coming from San Diego, where the military seems more like a nuisance than something that should be celebrated.
During dinner, an old biker dude walked by, patted Brandon on the back
and said, "Semper Fi brother."
It was nice to have some positive attention towards the military. I am happy that this town seems to accept and respect the military. It will make it more pleasant for Brandon to talk to people, and hopefully get them to join!
We are so grateful that couple and their generosity to us. We will remember their kindness for years to come, I am sure.

Any sentence with "brother" is always good.
