Anyways, Brandon and I both got off work early on his birthday so we could celebrate together. Brandon did have to work a little bit longer than me, so I went to visit him at work until boss man said it was good to go.
For his birthday dinner, Brandon really wanted to go to Koto. It's a hibachi restaurant in town that plays NSync's "Happy Birthday" and they turn on disco lights. NSync's version of "Happy Birthday" is very...let's say you just can't get it out of your head once you hear it. It's pretty awesome like that. Here's a video of them playing the song and Brandon making a wish with the gong.
After dinner, we went home and Brandon opened presents. You would think from the wrapping, Brandon was turning 6 but no, he just likes Spongebob.
I don't like to brag, but I am a really good gift giver, most of the time. Every time we went to the grocery store for the last several months, Brandon would look for Lay's "Chicken and Waffle" flavor chips and could never find them. So I went online to try to track them down as a surprise. I was even going to order them in bulk on Amazon, but they were out of stock. I decided I would try Ebay and it worked! I was able to be the highest bidder on one bag of these chips. I am a little embarrassed to say how much I bought them for, but oh well, it got the job done. Brandon was really excited.
He also got lots of crazy rad shirts and a charcoal BBQ!
Although recruiting duty is hard and stressful, I really am grateful to have Brandon around for these special days. He hasn't been deployed in forever and I am used to him being around. But I know that won't be the case forever and that eventually, he will miss special occasions. But for now, we are going to live it up in the last year of our twenties, together.
