After months of anticipation as to where we will be moving to, we know!
I was at my sister's in Los Angeles the day Brandon found out our new station. I was anxiously waiting for a text or a call from him early in the day. He started work at 7:00am and I knew they were going to find out first thing in the morning where they were going. So at 7:15am, I expected to know.
Around 8:30am I had heard nothing from him. Nothing! I was on Facebook looking at the Recruiter's Wives group page and wife had posted that they got 6th district!
WHAT??? Did Brandon forget he had a wife that needed to know the play by play! But Brandon had told me that he was going to do whatever would be me squirm the most.
Finally, around 9:45am Brandon texted me.
He said, "I know everything now. You want a hint? It's not the West Coast?"
I immediately wrote him back and said, "TELL ME!!!"
He didn't write back for 20 minutes! Adrie and I were going crazy. In the meantime, Jamie and my best friend were texing and calling me. Every beep or buzz I heard, I thought it was Brandon but it wasn't.
After what seemed like a lifetime, I get the text.
"Pittsfield, Mass"
AHHHHHHHHH!!!! That's sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo far away from San Diego.
Adrie and I start googling it and finding out all sorts of fun facts about my new town.
I called Jamie, she went into shock.
I called my dad, he said "Oh shit."
I called my mom and told her it had a Target. She said it was probably a baby Target! :(
I called my Lindsey, she cried. :(
I called Autumn, she was excited and said at least we are in the same time zone now!
Such a whirlwind of emotions going on in just that short few minutes. Adrie and I continued to research my new town. Jamie was too and sending me links and texts about it.
I finally got myself together and drove home to San Diego to see Brandon, who had gotten off work early, so we could talk about our new home.
We are both happy with Pittsfield. We got a little scared because Brandon had put down Baton Rouge, Louisiana (I told him to change it to Atlanta, but he didn't!) on his request sheet and we were certain we were going to go there. I am grateful we didn't. I don't how I would fair in Louisiana.
Pittsfield is a small town of about 45,000 people. It is located in Western Massachusetts in the Birkshires. It is about an hour away from Albany, New York and about 2 1/2 hours away from Boston. It seems like a very artsy, cultural town with lots of lakes, parks and things to do outside.
I also already emailed 4 school districts about starting an internship there this fall and I already heard back from 2, so things look promising.
I think Pittsfield will be perfect for us.
