It's my party and I'll cry if I want to.

Saturday was our official going away party.

Talk about mixed emotions.

I was excited to see everyone.
Grateful for all these wonderful people I have in my life.
Surprised (in a good way) to see some of my long lost friends!
Anxious that everything at the party was going alright.
And sad when I had to say my "see you later"s.

Brandon and I were overwhelmed with the amount of friends and family that came to show their support and see us one more time before we took off for Massachusetts.
I was so busy trying to work my way around the party, making sure I got to see everyone that came and spend a few minutes with them before we said goodbye. We had some friends that drove over 3 hours to come to our party, friends I haven't seen in years, friends that just returned from deployments, and friends that had a very busy day but found time to stop by. And not to mention some of my friends that came early and stayed late to help us set up and take down.
I am truly blessed to have such wonderful, nice people in my life.

As I grow older, I am becoming more aware of the importance of friendship and having good, genuine friends. My sister said that when I move away, I will realize who are really good friends...they will be the ones that will keep in touch and come visit you...but I think I have a good idea of who those people are already. I was so taken aback by how many friends came to our party to send us off...I knew we were surrounded by good friends and family. We are very lucky.

I was so happy that Brandon's friends and fellow Marines were able to come over. He has been missing them, but because of Recruiting School, hasn't been able to see them very much. And a few of them just got back from deployment, so it was really nice that Brandon could see them before we left.
One of the Marines that Brandon trained presented him with a plaque on behalf of their shop and gave a speech. It was so sweet and I almost started to cry (and I'm pretty sure Brandon shed some man tears). The Marine went on to say how Brandon was an inspiration and a role model and he was proud that Brandon was able to train him.
Swoon.

And right before the presentation of his plaque, they threw him in the pool!

Marines, and boys in general I think, have a funny way of showing each other how they care. Just like on his birthday one year when he was on deployment, they taped him up to a jet! They are so funny.
Luckily, these guys were smart enough to take off his shoes and get his phone before they threw him in the pool.

Side note: Don't mind my husbands cut-off sleeves and he wore his recruiter name tag all day and night.
He cracks me up sometimes.

It was such a great day. I cannot express enough how grateful and lucky I am to have amazing friends. I wish I had more time to spend with them before we leave. I truly will miss them and hope they are reading this right now, so they know how appreciative I am of them - and to all the people that have made an effort to come see me before we leave.

xoxoxo.
