And just in case you've been wondering what we've been up to, read it here: I started my full-time permanent position. I am so happy to be working in the field that I went to school for. It feels pretty good. Brandon and his fellow Marine Recruiters have been doing amazing. They have always been 1 month ahead of their mission (quota/goal) but recently the district in which they are a part of, wanted everyone to be 1 month ahead. Because Brandon and his RSS (Recruiting Sub-Station) were already 1 month ahead, they were taken off production (they weren't required to sign any kids up) for an entire month. This meant that Brandon has been able to relax for a couple of weeks now. There are days when he only works a few hours or days where he works from home. He even went golfing (thanks for bringing the clubs, Dave and Roxanne!) during the week with a fellow Marine. It has been nice to have him not stressed out, and still doing amazing, recruiting/numbers wise. They seem to have a surplus of kids wanting to join right now and I hope that stays the same for awhile! We just booked our tickets back to California for Thanksgiving and I won't be so thankful if Brandon can't come because of a recruiting issue. Fingers crossed things stay relatively the same.
This weekend, we went on a little day trip to Vermont to check out the trees. A year ago, when I first told people I was moving to Massachusetts, their initial reaction was that I get to see the trees change color. It's a poor consolation prize when you have to give up your friends, family and whole life. It became the butt of many jokes, and I am laughing when I say this, but the trees really are beautiful! We drove north to Vermont, stopped for a little wine tasting, lunch and to take in some fall foliage. Check out our pictures.
On the way home, we stopped to see where Brigham Young was born. He was born in small town in Vermont that is an hour away from my house. Pretty neat. And yes, I can see the irony in wine tasting and checking out some historical Mormon sites.
This is the house. I'm not sure if this is the original house or someone rebuilt it. Either way, people actually occupy the house. I found out later that there is an actual monument just up the road from there. I guess we'll have to check it out next time.
