I was so happy and grateful that we were able to spend Thanksgiving in California with my family. Last year, we had just started settling into our new home in Massachusetts and did not travel anywhere for the holidays. And of course, you know how much I love/am obsessed with my family, so we made a decision to be with them for Thanksgiving this year. Plus, Brandon hasn't seen my family in over a year and hasn't met 2 of the new babies! And taking leave wasn't a hassle, as once expected, so we jumped on the opportunity to get out of town.
We took Brawley with us on our trip, even though his plane ticket cost just as much as ours! He was so happy to see everyone too and play with his cousin, Kira.
We stayed with my sister Jamie, her husband and their cute baby Fern. My sister Adrie and her family came up from Los Angeles to spend the holiday with us. AND my sister in law Amy and her kids came over from Reno and spent a few days with us - an extra bonus I wasn't expecting! I so happy to be with everyone again. I feel like my heart is whole when my family is close by.
We had so much fun together. We had Thanksgiving at my Grandpa's house with my cousins I haven't seen a very long time. It was really nice to visit with them.
This is my niece Plum and I. I love her. She is so cute and sweet.
Making funny faces with Lyla...Plum wasn't interested.
I tried to get a nice picture of Brandon and I on Thanksgiving but he thought it was more fun to sabotage the pictures. And then of course, when I make my annoyed face, he smiles cute.
The day after Thanksgiving, we hung out at the beach. It in seventies and the sun was shining. It made me wonder why we didn't go to the beach more often when we lived in San Diego.
All the girls.
On Saturday, we took a ferry to Angel Island and just hung out. The ferry ride had amazing views of the Golden Gate bridge and the city.
Jack and Rose.
Mason and I.
The city.
Could they be any cuter? I don't think so.
Look at that face! And those teeth!
I tried practicing walking with Fern, so she could take her first steps while I was there, but she didn't want to. :( Boo.
Went on a short hike on our last day. We thought we were hiking to a labyrinth, but turns out we took the wrong trail. Go figure.
Wah. On the way to SFO to head home. Super wah.
I hate, absolutely HATE, saying goodbye to my family. It's probably my least favorite thing to do. I think having Brandon with me this time, made me less sad, but it didn't stop me from shedding a few tears. It is so much worse when you don't know when you will see them next. If I had another trip planned or someone was coming to see me, it wouldn't be so bad, but not knowing when I will see them again makes it really rough.
Even though saying goodbye sucked, it was definitely one of the better Thanksgivings in my life.
I love my family!
Brawley rules.
